GIS Developer (United States Geological Survey)

Showcase your programming prowess in an interactive, meticulous, crucial role integrating databases and developing code for The National Map by enhancing our country's map data efficiently and accurately for inquiring researchers, consequential policymaking, and an informed public. 

As a GIS Software Developer, you will be joining XTS's highly capable and collaborative Innovation Support team supporting the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and their Map Ready Software development efforts. In this role, you will be demonstrating your strong knowledge of programming languages being used in tandem with GIS software suites, your adaptable and detail-oriented nature approach to continuous development and maintenance of code, and rise to the occasion among a collaborative work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, the candidate must:
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience 
  • Have experience with utilizing ArcGIS Pro 
    • This includes experience with ArcGIS Pro Geoprocessing Tools
  • Experience programming with Python, including ArcPy
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with operating on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Computing platform
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub, GitLab)
  • Is independently driven and exceedingly motivated toward mission completion
    • Showcasing leadership capabilities and collaboration is desired
