Expert Data Scientist – Intelligence Support (TS/SCI)

Springfield, VA
Full Time
Experienced
Getting data where it needs to go is one challenge. Keeping it moving reliably as systems, formats, and mission needs evolve takes a deeper understanding of how everything connects.
You’ve built that understanding through experience, developing pipelines, working through integration challenges, and making decisions that others depend on. You know that a change in one system can affect the next, and you take the time to understand those dependencies before moving forward.

This is a rare chance to join us as an Expert Data Scientist to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Maven program, supporting imagery acquisition, imagery curation, and data transformation within its model development process. Your work will help keep the data behind that process connected, accessible, and moving reliably. You’ll develop, sustain, and monitor operational data pipelines, use APIs to query systems and migrate information, and work across databases and cloud architectures. When a pipeline fails or an interface change, your ability to trace the problem and work toward a lasting solution will matter to the people and processes relying on that data. Your contribution also includes helping others understand the decisions ahead. You’ll explain technical challenges, make dependencies clear, and communicate recommendations so the team can move forward with a shared understanding.

Requirements
  • Current active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
  • You have one of the following education and relevant experience combinations:
  • Associate degree + 16 years
  • Bachelor’s degree + 15 years
  • Master’s degree + 13 years
  • 18 or more years of relevant experience
  • You have experience with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud architectures and understand how information is stored, accessed, and moved to make sound decisions about the system supporting operational data pipelines.
  • Experience leveraging APIs to query systems and migrate data to help retrieve and transfer data while accounting for differences between systems.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java as you will be using your development skills to build integrations, automate processing, and maintain the code that supports data movement.
  • Experience developing, sustaining, and monitoring operational data pipelines across multiple formats and interfaces as building a pipeline is part of its lifecycle. You’ll need to recognize issues, maintain its operation, and adapt it as the systems around it change.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with NGA enterprise solutions, including NGA CORE and NGA MLOps, along with Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes and Government NPE certificates.
  • Experience implementing processes, standards, and tools based on the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe).
  • Experience developing dynamic visualizations.

If you’re ready to bring your experience to work that helps shape what comes next for NGA’s Maven program, send your resume directly to Lanchi Lai, ([email protected]).

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
